Constellation joins as event’s third Ambassador-level Sponsor
CHICAGO August 31, 2015 – The LPGA announced Monday new cutoff dates for countries and players to qualify for the 2016 UL International Crown.
“The dates for both the countries and players to qualify for the 2016 UL International Crown were moved closer to the event in an effort to deliver the top countries and to allow the players who are playing the best golf closest to tournament time to take part,” said LPGA Commissioner Michael Whan.
The eight countries that will compete in the second playing of the UL International Crown will be determined at the conclusion of the 2016 ANA Inspiration. Countries will qualify based on the combined Rolex World Ranking of their top four players as of the Rolex World Rankings published Monday, April 4, 2016.
The four players who will compete for each pre-qualified country will then be determined at the conclusion of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in June. The four highest ranked players from each of the eight countries as of the Rolex World Rankings on Monday, June 13, 2016 will compete to see who will be crowned the best golf nation in the world.
The change of qualifying dates was announced during a “One Year Countdown” media event at Rich Harvest Farms, the host of the 2016 UL International Crown, outside Chicago. Belen Mozo, a member of the victorious Team Spain in 2014, and Minjee Lee, a member of team Australia, were on hand for the event.
The LPGA also announced Monday that Constellation will join Rolex and Calamos Investments as the third Ambassador-level sponsor for the event. UL was announced as the title sponsor of the event last October.
“We are thrilled to welcome Constellation as a new Ambassador sponsor,” Whan said. “Having UL as our title sponsor along with Rolex, Calamos and Constellation as Ambassador sponsors provides the UL International Crown with the kind of stability it requires to reach its potential as a great team women’s golf event with worldwide relevance.”
