With the first International Crown tournament less than two months away, here’s a look at the seventh-seeded Chinese Taipei team:

There are five players in the field who have been ranked No. 1 in the world, but none longer than Yani Tseng, Chinese Taipei’s top player. Tseng was No. 1 for 110 weeks (second only to Lorena Ochoa’s 158 weeks). Current No. 1 Stacy Lewis (U.S.) and former No. 1s Cristie Kerr (U.S.), Ai Miyazato (Japan) and Inbee Park (South Korea) are also playing in the International Crown.
Only the top two seeds, the Americans and the South Koreans, and Chinese Taipei field teams where at least three team members have won on the LPGA. Yani Tseng (15 wins), Teresa Lu (one win, the 2013 Mizuno Classic) and Candie Kung (four wins) have won on the LPGA.
After struggling with her game last year, Yani Tseng has shown signs of returning to form this season. She finished T5 at the Honda LPGA Thailand in February and T2 at the Kingsmill Championship in mid-May.
Candie Kung was born in Chinese Taipei and didn’t take up golf until she moved to the United States at age 14. At age 32, the former University of Southern California golfer is the oldest player on her team and the only one who is an American citizen. She has won four times on the LPGA.
Teresa Lu, 26, birdied six of the last eight holes to win the Mizuno Classic in Japan last fall as a non-LPGA member (She was last an LPGA member in 2010). She shot a final-round 64 last week to win the Resort Trust Ladies Open on the Japan LPGA.
Hsuan-Yu Yao, 21, is the youngest Chinese Taipei team member and has played in two LPGA events – the 2011 (T19) and 2012 (T38) Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship in her home country.
Chinese Taipei faces No. 2 seed South Korea in the opening match of Pool B on July 24.
Five of the eight teams have never competed in team competition that includes more than two players. Those first-time participants include Australia, Thailand, South Korea, Chinese Taipei and Japan. Players from the United States, Spain and Sweden have competed in the Solheim Cup.
