With the first International Crown tournament scheduled in two weeks (July 24-27), here’s a look at the second-seeded Team Korea:

Inbee Park’s victory at the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic in early June is the only LPGA victory by a South Korean golfer since Amy Yang won last October at the LPGA KEB-HanaBank Championship in South Korea.
South Korean golfers have won five of the last seven U.S. Women’s Opens – Park in 2008 and last year, Eun-Hee Ji in 2009, International Crown team member So Yeon Ryu in 2011 and International Crown member Na Yeon Choi in 2012.
Every Republic of Korea team member has at least two career LPGA wins. The only other team where every member has won on the LPGA is the top-seeded United States.
In January 2013, Team Korea held a commanding 21-45 lead (cumulative Rolex Women’s World Rankings points) over the United States for the top position. But 14 months later, the United States rallied to take the top spot. At the conclusion of the Kia Classic, the U.S. had a total of 32 points to Team Korea’s 33. Republic of Korea led entering the Kia event 29-33. But American Lexi Thompson finished third and moved from 10th to ninth as Team Korea’s Na Yeon Choi and I.K. Kim dropped a combined four spots (Choi from ninth to 11th and Kim from 13th to 15th).
I.K. Kim won the Ladies European Masters last week in England by five strokes. It was her first victory since the 2010 Lorena Ochoa Invitational.
So Yeon Ryu, 24, is the youngest Republic of Korean team member. Her three teammates are each age 26
