Two years before golf returns to the Olympics, the LPGA Tour is creating a tournament to determine the best in the world.

The International Crown will start in 2014 and be played every other year. It will feature four days of team matches among eight countries that can field the strongest four-player teams based on the world rankings. LPGA's International Crown to pit top eight countries

The LGPA announced the creation of the International Crown, a four-day tournament to debut in 2014 that will feature 32 players from eight counties playing in teams of four.

At the conclusion of the 2013 LPGA Tour season at the CME Group Titleholders in Naples, Fla., the top four players from each country will be taken from the Rolex world rankings. Their rankings will be combined to create a country ranking, and the top eight countries will qualify for the International Crown in 2014. More>>

Professional golf returning to Baltimore area in 2014

More than a decade after the U.S. Senior Open was played at Caves Valley Golf Club, and five years since both the LPGA Championship at Bulle Rock and the Senior Players Championship at Baltimore Country Club left the area, professional golf will be returning to Baltimore in 2014.

The Ladies PGA Tour is returning to Chicago — but it won't be until 2016. And then it will be for the staging of an extraordinary new team event.
Mike Whan, the LPGA commissioner, highlighted the first day of the 60th PGA Merchandise Show by announcing the arrival of the International Crown event.
